VW Type 181 Kübelwagen, honest classic car with history and appraisal

For sale is my VW Type 181 Kübelwagen from 1974 with the classic air-cooled 1.6 liter petrol engine and 35 kW.

I originally bought the vehicle because I was looking for exactly such an honest and original Type 181. The original idea was to use the car in Spain as a leisure vehicle for drives around the beach and the coast. Due to health reasons this practically did not happen. The VW was driven far too little as a result.

Next week the vehicle will be brought back from Spain to Germany and will then be for sale there.

Immediately after purchase, preserving the existing substance was particularly important to me. Therefore the car was thoroughly treated with dry ice and then conserved and sealed with Owatrol oil. My explicit intention was to preserve the existing substance and protect the vehicle from corrosion in the long term.

To me the car is an honest vehicle. It was not artificially polished to a high gloss nor restored in a way that erases its more than 50-year history. In my opinion, signs of use are acceptable on a vehicle like this. What mattered to me was always a solid and preserved substance.

A lot has also been invested technically in recent years. The essential technical parts have been renewed or repaired. Corresponding documents are available.

Particularly interesting is the extensive documentation of the vehicle. In addition to the normal vehicle documents I requested and received a separate vehicle certificate or “birth certificate” directly from Volkswagen. Documents relating to the VW Type 181 are also part of the vehicle.

There is also an appraisal for the car with condition grade 2 and an estimated market value of 15,000 euros.

The sale is exclusively for health reasons. I notice that the car is simply driven too little by me and it is far too valuable for that.

Therefore it is very important to me that the Type 181 goes to someone who enjoys such a vehicle, continues to care for it and actually uses it.
