For sale is a beautiful, fully functional and historically valuable collector's set from the turn of the century (around 1900). The set consists of an elegant ladies' pocket watch (frack watch) and an exceptionally long, matching watch chain.
Both the watch and the chain are in excellent, age-appropriate condition and visually harmonize perfectly.
1. The Pocket Watch (Swiss craftsmanship)
• Age & Origin: Switzerland, around 1900.
• Case Material: Solid 800 silver. The case is crafted in the noble “Galonné” style (the outer visible edges and hinges are decoratively rolled with real rose gold plating).
• Official Hallmarks (triple certified on the inner cover):
o Swiss control mark “Auerhahn” (guarantees Swiss origin).
o Fineness mark “0.800” (for genuine solid silver).
o German Imperial mark “Crown & Crescent Moon” (documents the historical export to the German Empire according to the 1888 regulations).
• Serial Number: 148163 (stamped in the cover, confirms the originality of the case).
• Dimensions: Diameter approx. 29 mm, thickness approx. 8 mm.
• Movement & Function: Mechanical movement with modern hand-winding via the crown (no key required!). Time is set mechanically by turning the crown while simultaneously pressing the small side button on the case rim.
• Condition: Very well preserved. The mechanism is completely intact, the watch starts reliably and keeps time.
2. The XL Watch Chain / Sautoir Chain (Rare eye-catcher)
• Manufacturer/Brand: Stamped with the renowned maker's mark "UNION".
• Material & Quality: High-quality gold-filled (rolled gold with a strong fineness of over 10 ‰). The chain is completely non-magnetic and shows a beautiful warm gold sheen.
• Length: Sensational total length of approx. 2 x 72 cm (almost 1.44 meters total length!) including the original, perfectly closing lobster clasp.
• Wearing Style: Due to its enormous length, this chain is ideal today as a fashionable “sautoir necklace” (worn doubled or tripled around the neck) – an extremely sought-after accessory among lovers of antique jewelry.
