With Helena B. Klaus, the Kinsky collection is showing an artist whose works immediately captivate through presence, posture and emotional tension. The painter, who lives in Germany, studied art and history with a focus on painting in Paderborn and worked for several years as an assistant to the pop art artist Hermann Reichold — a formative period that sharpened her artistic profile sustainably. The common thread of her work is the human body: facial expressions, gestures and body language become an independent visual language in Helena B. Klaus’s work. Her compositions combine figurative strength with painterly freedom — from floral elements and realistic echoes to abstract, open backgrounds. At the same time, Helena B. Klaus impresses with a remarkable technical diversity. In addition to oil and acrylic, she also works — depending on the series — with coffee, charcoal, pastel, ink and ballpoint pen on canvas or paper.
