Portals Nous is a laid-back little town west of Palma. It is located just twelve kilometres from the capital and only a short walk from the fashionable marina of Puerto Portals and is therefore not only highly sought after by holidaymakers, but also as a place to live. It is particularly popular with second home owners and golfers, especially because the sense of community lives on here even in winter.

Two beaches can be easily reached from Portals Nous – the small cove of Cala Portals Nous and Cala Bendinat and the larger and more common Platja de S'Oratori, better known as Cala Portals Nous.
