Impressive historic townhouse in Soller with garden and pool
The house, inhabited by an artist couple, combines a past steeped in history and contemporary art, which is visible in the decoration of the house and thus also highlights the beauty of earlier eras, with stylistic elements such as high rooms, balconies with antique iron grilles with sun symbols (according to the street name) that stretch along the façade, outside and inside towards the garden, particularly well-preserved antique ceramic tiles and staircases in the entrance hall, which tell of a glorious past, the last residence of a nobleman in the middle of the historic area for weaving.
The property has a corner location. To the front is an unobstructed green area, which also lets a lot of light into the rooms. The building runs in an L-shape to the rear street and offers another entrance and a garage space at the back, of great value in the centre of Soller. The house has a beautiful stylish entrance area with two staircases with stage character. On the same floor, facing the garden, there is an indoor pool, which was created from a former cistern, and a spacious bathroom. The courtyard is left as it used to be with its palm trees, orange and lemon trees, bougainvillas etc. and has an artistically designed fountain (sculpture not included in the UK).
The next floor consists of a spacious kitchen, dining room, living room with fireplace and study. On the 2nd floor are the majority of the bedrooms (5 in total), most of which have access to a balcony overlooking the garden and a spacious bathroom. The third floor houses a spacious, bright artist's studio with kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. From there you go up to the roof terrace, the highest in all of Soller, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the landscape, the mountains, the city and even the sea in the distance.
To the side of the main house there are two covered terraces and a guest apartment with bathroom and living room and below the garage. All in all, a very special property that, despite the character of a townhouse, offers a lot of outdoor areas, greenery and light and is located in the middle of the city, very close to the church of San Bartomeu and the center of the city in a quiet location.
The house has central heating, fireplace, pellet stove in the guest apartment and its own well.
Historical: Soller was somewhat separated from the rest of the island in the past, when there was no tunnel. It became prosperous due to the orange and citrus groves in the valley. There was a lot of trade with France and many people emigrated there. After their return, they used the acquired fortune to build stately, modernist houses that still adorn the city today and make up its special flair.
Soller is also a city of artists, where art can be admired in the Can Prunera Museum and the works of Miró and Picasso are duly appreciated.
